Pant and Lyon have been involved in some fierce battles before. Pant usually looks to attack the offspinner and has also succeeded on most occasions.
Rishabh Pant not retained by Delhi Capitals
It is to be noted that Nathan Lyon was talking about the IPL 2025 auction here. It is also possible that Lyon was trying to disturb Pant's batting concentration by bringing up the IPL 2025 auction between an important Test match.
Recently, Rishabh Pant was not retained by his former team Delhi Capitals. Hence, Pant's name will be up at the auction table and he is likely to play for a new team from the next season.
There are high chances that Rishabh Pant can be the most expensive player in the upcoming auction given his star status and overall skills. Pant offers great hitting skills required for T20 cricket and has even showed his talent in the IPL before.
Adding to this, he is also a safe wicketkeeper and a good option for captaincy. Pant has been leading Delhi Capitals since 2021 except the 2023 season, when he did not play due to injury.
Rishabh Pant dismissed after a good innings
Meanwhile, Rishabh Pant is one of India's most important Test cricketers at the moment. He is likely to play a key role in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. His ability to counter-attack stands out as he can put the pressure back on the opposition.
Rishabh Pant looked in good touch in Perth when the other Indian batters struggled to occupy the crease. He also played some audacious shots that he is most known for.
However, he was dismissed for a well-made 37 off 78 balls by the Australian captain Pat Cummins. The wicketkeeper-batter struck 3 fours and 1 six during his knock.
Rishabh Pant also shared a good partnership of 48 runs for the seventh wicket with Nitish Kumar Reddy which helped India cross the 100-run mark.
