There is no shortage of entertainment when Rishabh Pant bats and such has been the case in the ongoing first Test against the New Zealand National Cricket Team. The keeper-batter lit up the stage on Day 4 of the match at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
Rishabh Pant has made sure that India doesn't go down in the game and keeps their hopes alive of winning the match after getting all out for 46 in the first innings. The keeper-batter walked out to bat at the start of Day 4 and, since then, has been entertaining the crowd big time.
Rishabh Pant has batted with a positive mindset
Rishabh Pant has batted with a positive mindset ever since he stepped out to bat. The Southpaw has played in his usual aggressive way and has put the New Zealand National Cricket Team bowlers under pressure, slamming pacers and spinners all over the park with orthodox shots.
The most entertaining over of Pant's batting was the 66th over of the innings when he was playing against Ajaz Patel. The entire six balls of the over were full of surprises as no one had an idea about the next move from the keeper-batter.
Rishabh Pant slams Ajaz Patel for 16 runs in one over
Rishabh Pant started the over the massive six. He walked out and slammed the full ball outside off by Ajaz Patel into the stands at wide long-on. On the second ball of the over, the keeper-batter pressed back to defend the length delivery just outside off.
However, on the third ball of the over, Pant came up with another gigantic hit. Patel bowled a tossed-up delivery on off-stump. The left-hander pressed forward and lofted it a long way up and back over the bowler's head to make the crowd go berserk.
But on the 4th ball of the over, Pant was saved by the DRS. The left-hander was given lbw. The spinner bowled a length delivery outside off that turned back in nicely and went on to the pads. However, as he was given out, he immediately reviewed it and got a big inside edge.
A similar kind of thing unfolded on the next ball as well. Ajaz Patel bowled a length delivery on off-stump that slid through straighter, and Pant pressed back to defend. New Zealand opted for DRS but the ultra edge showed a thick outside edge before going on to his back leg.
Despite getting saved twice, Rishabh Pant then made sure he ended the over on high. The spinner bowled a full-on off-stump that was pushed through quicker and flatter. The ball rushed the keeper-batter as he looked to go big down the ground.
Pant couldn't couldn't quite get under it to get the elevation. He ended up shoveling it out towards long-off, where Ravindra ran in and leaped forward but couldn't reach it, and it went to the ropes.
