India batter Shivam Dube returned to form with the bat in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024. The southpaw played a decent hand for his team in the game against Bangladesh which is underway at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua and Barbuda.
Shivam Dube, who walked out to bat at No.5, in the ongoing game against Bangladesh took some time to get going. But after having his eye in, he unleashed himself and hit some magnificent blows to up the ante for his team.
Shivam Dube first hit a six to Shakib Al Hasan and then hit a massive six to Tanzim Hasan Sakib. In the 18th over of the innings, he looked to attack Rishad Hossain and started the over on a high note as he launched the massive six over deep mid-wicket.
But on the very next delivery, Rishad Hossain took his revenge and had the last laugh. He anticipated that Shivam Dube would come after him and bowled a full and straight ball. The southpaw missed the slog sweep and the ball crashed into the stumps to send the batter packing.

He (Dube) had to take his time because his role was to take on the spinners - Hardik Pandya
After the innings, Hardik Pandya talked about his knock and said that the India team posted a good total on the board. He also talked about why Shivam Dube took some time to get going and claimed that the left-hander’s role was to take on spinners. Speaking to broadcasters, he explained:
“Wicket looked alright, the par would have been 180, but we got 197 I think that is like a good score here. Hopefully with our bowling line-up, with a little bit of consistency, we will be able to do well.
“He (Dube) had to take his time because his role was to take on the spinners, I think when the time came we both were allowed to free our hands and that was very important to us. It tends to get slower at the end, discipline and good bowling will be crucial,” he concluded.
