India National Cricket Team player Riyan Parag has described himself in three words. The all-rounder called himself mature, more driven, and sorted. This comes after the Rajasthan Royals cricketer made his debut for the national team in the white-ball formats.
The rise of all-rounder Riyan Parag has been nothing short of exceptional. The youngster was touted as the worst player and from that to become one of the vital assets for India, his journey speaks for itself. The middle-order batter put in hard yards over the past few years both at the domestic as well as IPL levels.
Parag since the last few years has been exceptional in the domestic circuit for Assam. The all-rounder has scored truckloads of runs for the team and has helped them win important games as well. Apart from that he also has been equally decent with the ball, chipping in with wickets at crucial junctures.
The young player proved his prowess with the bat in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. While representing Rajasthan Royals in the league, he set the stage on fire and showed his true potential. He looked extremely calm under pressure situations and bailed the team out of trouble quite a few times.
Also, Riyan Parag was the third leading run-getter in the IPL 2024. He scored 573 runs in 16 matches to go with 4 half-centuries. The Indian player was the key behind the team reaching playoffs as he stood tall for his team in the big games as well and took them to victory. Since the last few seasons, he didn't get much opportunity to bat higher in the order.
The franchise saw him as a finisher which didn't go in his favour as he failed in almost every game and was trolled a lot for his poor knocks. However, this year, at No.4, the all-rounder, showed what he is capable of.
Riyan Parag was handed the Indian debut after he impressed BCCI with his consistent performances in the IPL and domestic cricket. He played for the national team in the T20Is against Zimbabwe and after that was part of the T20I series against Sri Lanka before making ODI debut as well
Playing for the senior India team, Riyan Parag also had a dream debut with the ball. The all-rounder picked 3 wickets and also looked solid with the bat. Although he didn't have the runs he would've wanted he looked pleasing to the eyes as well.
Riyan Parag describes himself as mature, more driven, and sorted
In a video posted by the Twitter account of Rajasthan Royals, Parag was asked to define himself in three words. The all-rounder first thought of describing himself as cliche, calm, and collected but he went with mature, more driven, and sorted.
Here's the video:

Meanwhile, Parag impressed many with his performances in the Indian colors. He is now likely to be part of the Bangladesh T20I series in September. With the kind of effort he has put in, he could prove to be a vital asset for the team as they look to build for the T20 World Cup 2026.
