Rajasthan Royals missed the golden opportunity to put Royal Challengers Bengaluru under pressure at the start of their chase as Riyan Parag dropped the big fish in Virat Kohli in the ongoing 28th IPL 2025 match at the Mansingh Sawai Stadium in Jaipur.

The drama unfolded in the very first ball of the fourth over during RCB’s chase against the RR in Jaipur. Virat Kohli, looking to go big, mistimed a lofted shot off Sandeep Sharma’s cross-seam delivery and off pace. The ball went high and straight towards long-on, creating an easy chance for Riyan Parag.

But to everyone’s shock, Riyan Parag, positioned under the ball with his sunglasses on, made a mess of it, as he let the catch slip through his hands. What made things worse was the miscommunication with teammate Tushar Deshpande, who was stationed at the mid-off and moved toward the ball but pulled out at the last moment, expecting Parag to complete the catch.

Parag was visibly furious after the drop and fired some words at Tushar, as he was blaming the RR bowler for coming in and then backing out at the last second. On the other hand, Tushar looked just as confused by the chaos. Well, RR botched the moment, giving Kohli a lifeline in the tense moment.

Yashasvi Jaiswal drops Phil Salt and misses run-out opportunity

The Royals’ poor fielding drama didn’t end there, as Phil Salt also survived in the sixth over, and this time Yashasvi Jaiswal missed that golden chance in Jaipur. As Rajasthan Royals’ fielding woes continued, Jaiswal dropped Salt and missed a run-out chance off Sandeep Sharma’s delivery.

Phil Salt came down the track and hit the ball hard, low to the right of Jaiswal at extra cover. Jaiswal managed to get his hands on it, but as he hit the ground, the ball slipped out of his grip. He quickly got up and tried to throw it to the bowler’s end for a potential run-out.

However, Salt, who already stopped running, was fortunate that the throw missed the stumps. Sandeep Sharma was not near the stumps, so he couldn’t collect the throw and attempt a run-out himself. It was another costly mistake from the Royals, and Salt couldn’t help but smile after surviving the chaotic moment.

RCB cruising towards victory over RR in Jaipur

Well, Virat Kohli and Phil Salt were on fire as RCB scored over 82 runs in 8 overs in Jaipur. However, Kumar Kartikeya managed to get rid of Phil Salt in the match. Salt tried to pull a short delivery from the finger spinner but sliced it straight to Yashasvi Jaiswal at deep midwicket.

Salt was finally caught by Jaiswal as his knock of 65 runs off 33 balls, which included 5 fours and 6 sixes, ended after putting the RCB in a strong position. On the other hand, Virat Kohli is anchoring RCB’s chase against the Royals, batting 27* off 24 balls at the writing time.
