Rohit Sharma had a forgettable campaign in the Indian Premier League this year. Even before the start of the season, the veteran batsman suffered a big setback due to his unceremonious sacking as captain.
Mumbai Indians decided to sack their five-time IPL-winning captain and named Hardik Pandya as his replacement. The franchise took the decision after Rohit Sharma's failure to lead the team to the title in the last three seasons. On the other hand, Pandya had impressed as a captain at Gujarat Titans, leading them to the title in 2022 before helping them reach the final in 2023 too.
While Rohit Sharma did not express his disappointment over the ill-treatment he received from the franchise, certain incidents made it crystal clear that he was not at all happy. One of those incidents took place at the Eden Gardens when he was talking to Kolkata Knight Riders assistant coach and his former Mumbai teammate Abhishek Nayar during a training session.

In the video, Rohit Sharma was heard expressing his displeasure over the changes taking place in the Mumbai Indians camp and also said that IPL 2024 would be his last season with the franchise.
"Ek ek cheez change ho raha hai...Woh unke upar hai...Jo bhi hai woh mera ghar hai bhai, woh temple jo hai na maine banwaya hai(Everything is changing one by one... It's on them... Whatever, but it's my home brother, it's the temple that I constructed)," Rohit Sharma had said before telling Nayar: "Bhai mera kya mera to ye last hai (brother, this is my last anyway)".
Rohit Sharma to leave Mumbai Indians?
The way things unfolded during IPL 2024, many believe that Rohit Sharma won't be a part of the team next season. And while only time will tell what happens next, Rohit Sharma has added fuel to the fire with his reaction to a fan's comment about him.
The incident took place in Colombo when he was coming out of the dressing room for a practice session. As he was walking down the stairs, the fan told him 'this time no Mumbai Indians'. As soon as the India captain heard the comment, he reacted with a smile, hinting that his time with the Mumbai-based franchise was all but over.
