India captain Rohit Sharma came up with a heartwarming gesture for Naushad Khan, father of Sarfaraz Khan, before the start of the ongoing third Test against England in Rajkot. The third IND vs ENG Test is a special game for both Sarfaraz as well as his father Naushad.
The game is a testament to the hard work and the perseverance of the father-son duo. While Naushad did everything he could to ensure that his son got all the training he needed to become a cricketer, Sarfaraz made sure to work hard and become a cricketer to make his father’s dream come true.
The right-handed batsman toiled hard for years in international cricket and suffered several setbacks as the national selectors kept ignoring him. He was finally rewarded for his hard work and perseverance with his maiden India call-up before the second Test of the ongoing series.
Rohit Sharma’s heartwarming gesture for Naushad Khan:
While Sarfaraz was expected to play the second Test, the team management decided otherwise. The special moment finally arrived on Thursday as the Mumbai star received his maiden India cap. The moment was made more special by Sarfaraz’s father and wife on the field.
Both of them were invited to the field by the team when Sarfaraz received his maiden India cap from none other than the legendary Anil Kumble. Naushad struggled to contain his emotions as his son finally got the chance to play for India after toiling hard for years in domestic cricket.
He was seen shedding a few tears and kissing his son’s maiden Test cap before India captain Rohit Sharma came up with a brilliant gesture. The star batsman walked up to Sarfaraz’s emotional father and hugged him on the special occasion.

Talking about the game, India were off to a poor start after winning the toss and opting to bat first. Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, and Rajat Patidar failed to get going as England reduced India to 33 for 3. Rohit Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja then steadied the ship with an unbroken 60-run stand before lunch was called.
