Yashasvi Jaiswal showed his superb catching skills to hand India the big wicket of Beau Webster on the second day of the Sydney Test against Australia. Jaiswal was at his absolute best as he flew at gully to take a sharp catch. It prompted a great reaction from India's captain Rohit Sharma who has opted to rest for this match.

It was a short of a length ball outside off stump but Prasidh Krishna got some extra bounce due to his height. Webster was not expecting the ball to bounce so sigh and found himself in an awkward position to play the ball.

He tentatively poked at it and the outside edge flew to Jaiswal's right at gully. The Indian opener flew in the air and plucked out an outstanding catch. It was Jaiswal's second catch of the innings.

After Jaiswal took the catch, he was mobbed by his teammates. Rohit Sharma, who was watching the game from the SCG's balcony, was visibly elated and jumped off his chair in celebration.

Rohit Sharma had earlier prompted to sit out of the match and the stand-in captain Jasprit Bumrah claimed that he has opted to rest. Rohit himself removed any retirement claims and stated that it was his own decision to sit out of the next match.

According to him, he still vows to play for India and is not taking retirement soon. Rohit had a poor series and scored just 31 runs in three Tests at an average of 6.20.

Second catch for Yashasvi Jaiswal

It was the second catch of the day for Yashasvi Jaiswal. The Indian opener had earlier taken another superb catch at gully to remove Sam Konstas. The ball came low to Jaiswal who got down in time to take a clean catch.

Menwhile, it was an excellent knock from Beau Webster who was playing his first Test knock. Webster showed immense maturity in this innings and batted well under tough batting conditions.

The allrounder firstly stitched a good partnership with Steve Smith to steady Australia's innings. He then formed a vital partnership with the wicketkeeper Alex Carey as well.

Beau Webster's maiden Test fifty

While most of the other Australian batters struggled, Beau Webster smashed his maiden Test fifty in his first innings. He scored 57 off 105 balls and also became the first batter to score a half-century in this match.

Beau Webster earlier had a good time with the ball too. The allrounder bowled crucial overs and played a key role in resting the team;s frontline pacers. Although he didn't get any wicket, he was excellent and didn't give away easy runs.

He was economical and finished with 0-29 in 13 overs. Before the start of the match, Webster came in as the replacement for the out-of-form Mitchell Marsh.
