Team India finally arrived in New Delhi on July 4 at around 6:11 AM. Ever since their arrival, they have received a warm reception from the fans right from the airport. The fans kept chanting 'India, India' and the names of their star players throughout. They waited for their stars to arrive in the early morning.

When the Indian team was on its way to the bus, Rohit Sharma was seen showcasing the T20 World Cup 2024 trophy to the fans, which resulted in a loud cheer from them. The video was released by news agency PTI on their X (formerly Twitter) handle.

The team was earlier scheduled to arrive a day earlier but due to Hurricane Beryl hitting the island nation, their flight from Barbados was delayed. They finally arrived in Delhi on Thursday (July 4) morning.

Team India's whole-day plan after arriving in New Delhi

The team is scheduled to reach ITC Maurya after they arrive in New Delhi. Following that, they will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his residence at Lok Kalyan Marg, where the players and the coaching staff will be felicitated.

The team will then leave for Mumbai, where they are scheduled to have an open bus victory rally of around 1 km from Nariman Point to the Wankhede Stadium, where they will be felicitated by the BCCI with the prize money.

“There will be a road show from Nariman Point in an open bus and later we will honor and felicitate the players with the prize money of Rs 125 crore as announced,” BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla said to news agency PTI.

A similar roadshow was organized when MS Dhoni led a young Indian side to the title win in the inaugural T20 World Cup edition in 2007 which was held in South Africa. At that time, India had defeated Pakistan by 5 runs in the final to clinch the title. However, that roadshow had taken a longer route of around 30 km from Mumbai airport to Wankhede Stadium.

India win a thrilling match to become T20 World Champions

India won the T20 World Cup 2024 title by beating South Africa in the final by 7 runs at Kensington Oval, Bridgetown, Barbados. In a thrilling match, it looked like India would lose another final when South African batters were going strong.

But the bowlers held their nerves to bring the Men in Blue back into the game. Eventually, with 16 needed off 6 balls, Hardik Pandya held his composure to take India to a memorable win.

Virat Kohli was adjudged Player of the Match for his valuable 76 off 59 balls while fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah was adjudged Player of the Tournament.
