Well, the festivities kicked off in Mumbai with the T20 World Cup 2024 victory parade, which started from Marine Drive and ended at the Wankhede Stadium. Rohit Sharma's reaction to the "Garden" query lights up T20 World Cup 2024 celebrations.
Amidst the players and fans flowing in the emotional waves of World Cup triumph, the Indian captain Rohit Sharma couldn’t control his laughter as his iconic “Garden” remark took center stage during his speech at the iconic Wankhede Stadium.
Actually, the presenter, Kunal Kapoor, told Rohit that India became the first team to win the Men's T20 World Cup undefeated, and they did not lose a single game in the tournament. He further said that it was a complete team effort before leaving Rohit and his fans in splits with his witty question.
Kunal asked, Is it safe to say that koi bhi ek minute ke liye bhi garden mein nahi ghuma? Hearing that, the T20 World Cup-winning captain could not help but start laughing while looking around the stadium with his teammates.
In his reply, Rohit hailed the Indian team and said that he was very lucky to have this team. He told Kunal, “Firstly, I think I'm very, very proud of this team. I'm very lucky to have a team like this.”

The story behind Rohit Sharma's iconic "Garden" one-liner
Notably, Rohit’s Garden comment became famous since India’s Viazg Test against England earlier this year. Known for his hilarious sense of humor and witty remarks on the field, Rohit shouted to his fielders by saying, “Koi bhi garden ghoomta nhi dikhna chahiye, nhi to mai...” in the Vizag Test.
Since then, the Indian skipper’s “Garden” one-liner has become a hit among fans and players. Notably, "Garden me ghoomna" refers to being lazy on the field, and Rohit wanted sharpness among his fielders, and that’s why he warned his players to ensure agility on the field.
Earlier, dedicating the T20 World Cup 2024 win to the entire nation, Rohit said: “Since we came to India, it's been wonderful. The reception we've received here tells you the kind of enthusiasm people had for this trophy. Yes, of course, it means so much for us but it's for the entire nation. Along with all the players who have represented the country, I think the people who've been wanting us to win the trophy, this trophy belongs to them.”
