Indian veterans Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have been spotted interchanging in the nets ahead of the second ODI at Raipur. During such a practice session, Rohit can be spotted saving his head from being smashed by a straight hit from Virat Kohli.
India defeated South Africa in a thrilling, high-scoring contest at the Ranchi JSCA International Cricket Stadium by a close margin of 17 runs. After a winning start, the team advanced to Raipur and has looked even more confident than before.
The Proteas would, however, continue to be one of the most challenging oppositions, as they have already set high standards in the first ODI itself. The Protea middle-order and lower-order took them very close to a win.
Virat Kohli almost smashes Rohit Sharma's head with a straight hit
Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are the two modern-day geniuses of international white-ball cricket from India. With 25000+ runs between the two greats in ODI cricket, this might be the strongest ever duo to have played simultaneously for any team.
Previously, Sourav Ganguly and Sachin Tendulkar formed such a duo for India with as many runs. Ahead of the Raipur ODI, the two were spotted interchanging in the nets. While batting, Virat Kohli lofted one of the balls over Rohit's head, and the Indian opener ducked in amazement.
After this, Rohit soon came to strike and was seen playing more to the square boundaries, unlike Kohli, who looked quite focused to score runs off in the V, that is between the mid-wicket and deep extra-cover region.
Virat Kohli hit such a straight shot that Rohit Sharma got scared and bent down immediately while standing at the 2nd end.😂🔥❤️

Rohit and Virat are now the second-best ODI pair in the history of the game
In the Ranchi game, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli had put on a 136-run partnership for the second wicket for India, which gave the Blues the solid start and the momentum they needed early in the innings.
With this partnership, they went past Kumar Sangakkara and T. Dilshan's former record of the second-most runs in partnerships in the one-day format. With 5500+ runs and 20 century partnerships, they are now only behind the great Sachin-Sourav duo in ODIs.
Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly opened the innings for India over a long period and amassed over 8000+ runs in partnerships between them.
Indian batters muster the balls in the nets as Raipur decks up for a high-end thriller between India and South Africa
The stage is set for a thrilling second ODI between India and South Africa at Raipur. Indian batters have managed to steal the show with their big hits. From Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rishabh Pant, and Ravindra Jadeja to Dhruv Jurel and Nitish Kumar Reddy, all have smashed the ball out of the park.
Even Tilak Varma admitted that every player was busy hitting sixes; only KL Rahul and Tilak Varma looked to try otherwise in the nets. India will probably go unchanged into the second ODI, with the bowlers also putting forward a fairly impressive run in Ranchi.
