Meanwhile, the Indian cricket team will face Sri Lanka in the third and final ODI to save their pride after losing the second ODI by 32 runs following a tie in the first game in Colombo.

The Indian captain Rohit Sharma along with head coach Gautam Gambhir and his support staff are under immense pressure, as their shakeup in the batting order badly backfired with the team failing to win matches despite being in a strong position.

When you lose a game, everything hurts: Rohit Sharma

The Indian captain had said in the post-match presentation ceremony after losing the 2nd ODI: “When you lose a game, everything hurts. It's not just about those 10 overs (when India lost six wickets for 50 runs). You have to play consistent cricket, and we failed to do that. Little disappointed, but these things happen. We weren't good enough. Don't want to look too much into how we played. But there'll be talks about our batting in the middle overs.”

Now, Rohit and his team’s primary goal is to avoid their first series defeat to Sri Lanka in 27 years. India last lost a bilateral ODI series to Sri Lanka in 1997, when Arjuna Ranatunga's team handed the Sachin Tendulkar-led Indian cricket team a 3-0 defeat.

India and Sri Lanka have competed in 170 ODI matches so far. Out of these, Team India has won 99 ODIs, while Sri Lanka won 58 games with 2 ties and 11 games ending without a result. Well, the Sri Lankan team is aiming for a historic ODI series win, while India would love to avoid a series defeat.
