The International Cricket Council has announced the nominees for the ICC Player of the Month awards for August on Thursday, September 10. The three shortlisted players in both men’s and women’s categories are selected based on their performances throughout the month of August.

ICC announces Player of the Month nominees for August; Ollie Robinson features
Sonal Dinusha was one of the biggest finds for Sri Lanka during their home Test series against India. The young batter impressed everyone with his contribution against a strong Indian side, for which he was shortlisted for the prestigious trophy by the ICC.
Robinson has found himself in the race after helping England clinch the Test against Pakistan at home. Mahmud has also been rewarded for his stunning performances during Bangladesh’s historic Test victory on Australian soil last month.
In the women’s category, Thailand stars Suleeport Laomi and Nannapat Koncharoenkai have been shortlisted, while Lucy Barnett has created history by becoming the first player from the Isle of Man to be nominated for the ICC Player of the Month award.
Laomi and Nannapat have impressed in both ODIs and T20Is, as well as during the ongoing Women’s Asia Cup in Dubai. Barnett’s performances in the Continental Cup in Romania have earned her a place among the nominees for the ICC Women’s Player of the Month Award.
Sonal Dinusha’s record-breaking India series earns him nomination
Sonal Dinusha had a brilliant two-match Test series against India. Those matches were part of the ICC World Test Championship (WTC). The 25-year-old left-hander scored 420 runs against the strong Indian attack. His performances helped Sri Lanka to draw the second Test against India.
He made 100 and 84 in Galle before hitting 103 and an unbeaten 133 in Colombo. Dinusha became only the third batter in Test history to score two centuries in a match after his team was asked to follow on by the Indian captain Shubman Gill in Colombo.
Ollie Robinson and Hasan Mahmud rewarded for strong performances
Ollie Robinson was England’s standout performer against Pakistan in the first two Tests. He won Player of the Match awards in the first two Tests after taking 8/80 and 8/35.

Hasan Mahmud also had a memorable month. The Bangladesh fast bowler helped his team beat Australia by nine wickets in Darwin, taking 6/55 and 3/56. He finished with nine wickets at 19.77 and climbed 26 places to 38th in the ICC Test Rankings.
Thailand stars shine as Suleeporn Laomi and Nannapat Koncharoenkai make ICC shortlist
Thailand’s Suleeporn Laomi took four ODI wickets against Papua New Guinea and then claimed 3/26 against India in the Women’s Asia Cup. Nannapat Koncharoenkai scored 121 ODI runs and 144 T20I runs during the period. Lucy Barnett was outstanding in the Continental Cup.
She scored 257 runs at 128.5, including an unbeaten 123 off 64 balls against Norway. She also took four wickets and helped her team reach the final of the Continental Cup.
