After missing the Mumbai Indians’ last game against the Lucknow Super Giants due to injury, fans were hoping for a strong comeback from the experienced Indian opener against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the 20th game of the ongoing IPL 2025 in Mumbai.

The hitman began his innings with some good shots, hitting two fours and a six early on. But soon after, he was clean bowled by Yash Dayal for just 17 runs off 9 balls. His quick dismissal once again disappointed fans, leaving fans and cricket experts to criticize his ongoing struggle with the bat.
While Rohit yet again failed with the bat, the five-time IPL champions have succumbed to another loss this season, as they fell 12 runs short of the 222-run target against the RCB at the Wankhede Stadium. It was MI’s fourth loss in their five games so far in the tournament.

Before this narrow defeat, Rohit Sharma caught attention with his antics on the field during the first innings at the Wankhede Stadium. Actually, a video is going viral on social media, where the Indian captain can be seen losing his cool at the stadium DJ during the IPL 2025 clash on Monday.
As soon as a DJ team member called Rohit Sharma’s name, the Hitman’s mood quickly turned into an angry young man, as he was seen calling out to him while gesturing his hand towards the DJ at the stadium. Later, he was seen murmuring something before faking batting on the boundary rope.

MCA faces dilemma over naming Wankhede stands after cricket icons
Meanwhile, the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) has found itself in a tricky situation after many of its members have suggested naming stands and walkways around the Wankhede Stadium after the former cricketers and state body members.
Club members have sent requests to name different areas in or around the stadium in honor of former MCA presidents like Sharad Pawar and the late Vilasrao Deshmukh, as well as legendary cricketers such as the late Ajit Wadekar, Eknath Solkar, Dilip Sardesai, Padmakar Shivalkar, former India women’s captain Diana Edulji, and current India captain Rohit Sharma.
MCA President Ajinkya Naik was quoted as saying by The Indian Express, “There have been suggestions from members, and the final decision will be taken by the general body members of the Mumbai Cricket Association.”
MCA may name grandstand after Rohit Sharma
During its recent Apex Council meeting, the MCA discussed the idea of naming a stand after Rohit to recognize his historic achievement as the Indian captain, leading the national side to victory in the T20 World Cup in 2024 and the Champions Trophy in 2025.
It is a rare milestone that no other Mumbai player has reached as India’s skipper. Presently, the MCA has one unnamed Grand Stand located above the president’s box at Wankhede Stadium, which could potentially be dedicated to Rohit if the proposal is approved.
