Rohit Sharma ended his IPL 2024 campaign on a good note personally as he scored 68 off 38 balls in the chase against Lucknow Super Giants. MI ended on 196/8 chasing 215 to win against LSH as they lost their 10th game of the season.

This is the second time in two years that Mumbai Indians finished tenth on the points table. It was yet another disappointing campaign for MI with nothing going right for them from start to finish.

Rohit finished the season with 417 runs from 14 games at a strike rate of 150 and an average just above 30. This is Rohit's first 400-plus season since 2019 when MI won their fourth IPL title. He was relatively cold and out of form in the previous three IPL seasons between 2020-2023.

Meanwhile, after Mumbai Indians' loss to LSG in their final league game, Rohit Sharma was seen having an animated conversation with franchise co-owner Nita Ambani. They were involved in some serious conversation by the looks of it.

There are reports that Rohit Sharma is likely to end his association with Mumbai Indians after the end of this IPL season. There are further reports that he did not take his captaincy snub by the franchise lightly and even showed his disappointment at a few decisions from the new skipper Hardik Pandya.

MI's decision to axe Rohit Sharma as the captain was not taken in good spirits by the Mumbai Indians fans as well. They even showed their disappointment by booing Hardik Pandya at various venues across the IPL and also at the Wankhede stadium.

The leaked footage of Rohit Sharma's conversation with KKR assistant coach Abhishek Nayar further gave fuel to all the debate circling the decision. Now Rohit's conversation with Nita Ambani is also sure to add to the speculations as well. Several cricket experts are also of the opinion that Rohit might want to play for a different franchise next season.

Meanwhile, MI skipper Hardik Pandya after the game spoke about the team's campaign and expressed his disappointment as to how the team did not play good cricket throughout the season. His own performance as captain was not overwhelming as well, especially with the T20 World Cup on the horizon.

"Did not play good quality cricket, eventually cost us the whole season. It's a professional world. Have to always come out and put our best foot forward. But yes, as a group we could not play quality cricket or smart cricket. Too early to point out what went wrong. The whole season kind of went wrong. We can pass this game as another one (that went wrong)" said Hardik after the game.

Meanwhile, the focus for Rohit Sharma now shifts to the T20 World Cup. India begin their campaign against Ireland on June 5. Rohit took India to the final of the ICC World Cup 2023 just six months ago at home. He is now being seen as the skipper who can take India to the final of the T20 World Cup and possibly win it. Hardik Pandya is also a part of the team.
