Team India could hardly afford another injury and they nearly suffered another such setback on the first day of the ongoing fourth Test against Australia in Brisbane. Team India have suffered a spate of injuries in Australia and are playing with a depleted team in the ongoing game. On Friday, their injury crisis further deepened when Navdeep Saini walked off the field with a suspected groin injury.
The pacer suffered the injury while bowling the 36th over of Australia’s innings. He immediately walked off the field with the physio. And later in the day, Rohit Sharma could have joined the injury list too when a throw from Prithvi Shaw nearly hit him. The incident took place in the 53rd over when Washington Sundar was bowling to Marnus Labuschagne.
On the second ball of the over, Labuschagne clipped the delivery from Washington towards square leg and set off for a single straightaway. Prithvi Shaw came charging in and collected the ball with one hand before deciding to fire in a throw at the non-striker’s end. But for some reason, he did not spot that Rohit Sharma was standing between him and the stumps.
The young opener threw the ball with full force but fortunately, Rohit Sharma managed to defend himself. The senior opener, however, was not at all amused with the throw from Shaw and his reaction made it very clear.
Here is a clip of the incident:
⚠ Friendly fire ⚠
