Rohit Sharma surrenders to Taskin Ahmed cheaply

Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma and Kohli both failed to impress with the bat in the ongoing first Test between India and Bangladesh in Chennai. While both the senior Indian batters were out for six runs in the first inning, Rohit Sharma was dismissed for just five runs, and Kohli fell for 17 in the second inning against the Tigers in Chennai.

Bangladesh pacer Taskin Ahmed delivered a short-of-length delivery at 137.9 kph that straightened just enough to force Rohit Sharma into playing a shot. Rohit Sharma, squared up by the movement, attempted to push at it, resulting in a thick outside edge.

The ball flew directly to Zakir Hasan, positioned at a wide third slip, who made no mistake in completing the catch. Rohit Sharma departed for 5 off 7 balls, with one boundary to his name. It was a fantastic breakthrough for both Taskin and Bangladesh against India.

Virat Kohli trapped in front by a full delivery from Mehidy Hasan Miraz

On the other hand, after hitting a boundary, Kohli was trapped in front by a full delivery from Mehidy Hasan Miraz, and umpire Richard Kettleborough raised his finger to end the former Indian skipper’s promising start in the second innings against Bangladesh in Chennai.

Kohli was not sure about his LBW out, so he briefly consulted Shubman Gill but eventually decided not to review the decision. The ball, bowled at 84.9 kph by Miraz, beat Kohli's attempt to flick it to the on-side, hitting him low on the front pad near the off-stump.

It looked like a straightforward LBW, but UltraEdge later revealed that Kohli had actually got an inside edge that even he missed. He walked back to the pavilion for just 17 from 37 balls, including two boundaries.

At the moment, India is leading by 308 runs in the first Test against Bangladesh, with Gill (33*) and Rishabh Pant (12*) resuming the play of Day 3 after the hosts restricted the tourists to 149 in their first inning in Chennai on Friday.
