During the 2nd ODI between India and West Indies at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium, Rohit Sharma brought up his 35th ODI century as he batted brilliantly in a 406-run chase for the Men in Blue and answered all his critics who doubted him because of his age, showcasing to the cricketing world why he remains one of the greatest openers.
In the match, Rohit brought up his 12,000 ODI runs as well; he needed 73 runs to become the third Indian batter to achieve the milestone. He looked in sublime form in the first game but could not convert his start; tonight he turned up big alongside captain Shubman Gill in a mammoth run chase for the Men in Blue.

Rohit Sharma smashed his hundred in 72 deliveries as he took a single to bring up his 52nd international hundred, and as soon as he reached his hundred, he did a special childlike celebration as he jumped in the middle, took a run, and punched his hand in the air. This was his second-fastest ODI hundred; he smacked 10 fours and 6 sixes.

After scoring the century, he became the oldest Indian cricketer to score a century in India, surpassing the previous record of Sunil Gavaskar, who smacked a hundred in India when he was 38 years and 113 days. Now Rohit has smacked an ODI hundred at the age of 39 years and 153 days. He was dismissed for 101 runs, and Virat Kohli appreciated his innings.

Rohit Sharma achieves 12,000 runs milestone
After achieving the 12,000* runs milestone, Rohit became the second fastest to achieve it, just behind Virat Kohli, as the latter achieved the milestone in 282 innings. He has been in sensational form, as in the last three innings he has scored two hundreds and answered all the questions that the selectors had about his form and commitment.
He stitched a partnership of 255 runs with Shubman Gill for the first wicket in a run chase of 406. As the team's India skipper also smashed a hundred and has crossed the 150-run mark as India are inching closer to the win.
