The Indian cricket team captain Rohit Sharma has been enjoying the best phase of his career and life for the past week after guiding the team to an ICC T20 World Cup 2024 triumph in Barbados on June 29.

Notably, India defeated South Africa by seven runs in the T20 World Cup 2024 final to lift the ICC trophy after 11 years, and the celebration of this historic win is still going on in the country.

The Indian cricket team returned from Barbados on July 4 after winning their second T20 World Cup after 17 years, having been stranded on the Caribbean Island due to Hurricane Beryl for three days.

They were welcomed by the Delhi Airport by showering them with water before setting foot on Indian soil, and then outside the airport and team hotel, the huge crowd welcomed their heroes in Desi style.

Well, the celebration just started, as the Men in Blue were hosted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for a special breakfast meet in New Delhi, and then they traveled to Mumbai for an open bus victory parade and facilitation ceremony at the iconic Wankhede Stadium on Thursday.

Upon arriving at the Wankhede Stadium, the Indian captain reunited with his parents, Gurunath and Purnima Sharma. His mother, visibly emotional, showered Rohit with kisses and hugs in a touching moment, which has now gone viral across social media platforms.

In the viral clip, a proud mother can be seen in tears, witnessing how her son made the entire nation cheer, and the Indian skipper getting love and applause for his remarkable achievement. However, it seemed that Rohit and his security personnel were in a hurry to leave for the facilitation ceremony.

Rohit Sharma receives a warm welcome at home

Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma was also warmly welcomed by his childhood friends and family members upon his return home after a busy day in Mumbai. Unaware of the surprise awaiting him, the India captain was left surprised by his heartfelt reception.

Among those welcoming him was India and Mumbai Indians (MI) batter Tilak Varma, who joined Rohit's friends in saluting the T20 World Cup-winning captain. In the viral video, they mobbed Rohit with hugs and lifted him on their shoulders in celebration.

On the other hand, Rohit said that he could never forget the 2007 T20 World Cup triumph, but the recent success is more special to him, as he won the 2024 T20 World Cup as India captain.
