The on-field performance of the Mumbai Indians (MI) might not have gone well in the IPL 2026 season so far, but Rohit Sharma knows how to make his teammates and fans smile even in the harsh conditions. The former skipper shared a video from his official Instagram account, where viewers can see Sharma mimicking his friend and teammate Shardul Thakur during training.

The video is shared on the social media platform ahead of MI’s next fixture, which will be against the Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 29 at the Wankhede Stadium. Ahead of the match, the Mumbai-based team is ranked 9th in the 10-team league. To maintain a spot in the title contention, the team will have to initiate a winning streak from the next fixture.

The Mumbai Indians need Rohit Sharma's service badly

Hardik Pandya and his boys have so far been able to confirm only a couple of wins in 7 wins and a net run rate of -0.736. In their last five games, they secured only one win. Only the Lucknow Super Giants are behind them in the points tally.

Rohit Sharma missed the recent few matches because of an injury he received while batting against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). To replace the injured Sharma, the MI team management offered a few opportunities to one of their young guns, Danish Malewar. The newly formed opening pair of the Mumbai Indians with Malewar and Quinton de Kock filed massively. Both of the batters were dismissed cheaply in the previous matches.

Will Rohit Sharma play against SRH tomorrow?

It is reported that Rohit Sharma is expected to make a comeback soon. If the reports are to be believed, then the veteran opener can play against the Sunrisers Hyderabad. Before sustaining the injury, he was in decent touch, scoring 137 runs at an average of 45.66 and a strike rate of 165.06, with the highest score of 78. He missed a few matches because of a hamstring injury, which might have affected his fitness levels as well. MI will need his experience and expertise to revive their campaign, and all around him are confident he will return for the next game.

According to a Cricbuzz report, “it is now understood that Rohit is on the road to recovery and should be available for the April 29 match. Sources indicate that he has been working on his fitness with the MI trainers and coaches, and there is a growing sense of optimism within the team management. "Rohit is working hard in the middle to get back to full fitness," a source said.

Viral video steals the spotlight

In the video, shared by Rohit himself, we can see that while Shardul Thakur is working on his hamstring in a gym, and behind his back, Rohit is mimicking him in a very funny way. “Stretching my hammy with Lord!,” the caption of the video reads. The video took no time to go viral on various social media platforms.
