Team India wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant shared a post on his official social media account to celebrate Independence Day on Friday, August 15. The 27-year-old cricketer uploaded unseen footage of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 celebrations with Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and other teammates.

India defeated New Zealand by four wickets in the Champions Trophy 2025 final in Dubai on Sunday, March 9. The Indian team also faced criticism for having an ‘unfair advantage’ during the Champions Trophy, as they played all their matches at a single venue, while the other seven teams had to travel.

During the video, Pant jokingly asked Rohit Sharma about taking the stumps. Rohit quipped that he wouldn’t retire after every victory. Pant responded that they actually wanted him to keep playing.

“Retirement lelu? Har baar jeetega toh mai thodi retirement leta rahunga.” [Retirement? I’m not going to retire every time I win]," Rohit said.

“Maine nahi bola bhai, hum toh chaha rahe hai khelo.” [I didn’t say that, bro. We actually want you to play]," Pant responded.

India Won the 2025 Champions Trophy Unbeaten

India completed an unbeaten run to claim the 2025 Champions Trophy. They started with a six-wicket win over Bangladesh, followed by another six-wicket triumph against Pakistan. A 44-run victory over New Zealand in their final group match helped them top Group A.

Rohit Sharma’s side defeated Australia by four wickets in the semifinal and then overcame New Zealand in the final to lift the trophy without losing a single match.

This was India’s third Champions Trophy title, having previously won in 2002 (as joint winners) and 2013. They became the only team to win the tournament three times.

How Did Rishabh Pant Perform in the ENG vs IND 2025 Test Series?

Rishabh Pant was seen in action during the 2025 Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy against England. The left-handed batter scored 479 runs in seven innings at an impressive average of 68.42, including two centuries at Headingley and three half-centuries.

Pant surpassed MS Dhoni’s record for most Test centuries by an Indian wicketkeeper-batter. However, he struggled with injuries throughout the series. He sustained a finger injury in the third Test at Lord’s and a foot injury in the fourth Test.

Dhruv Jurel had to keep stumps in Pant's absence. Pant was ruled out of the final Test at The Oval. According to reports, the 27-year-old is expected to miss the upcoming 2025 Asia Cup as well as India’s home Test series against the West Indies.
