England batsman Ben Duckett was finally able to convert his start into a hundred in the IND vs ENG Test series. Duckett became the fastest England batsman to slam a century on Indian soil and achieved the milestone in just 88 balls. On Day 2 of the third IND vs ENG Test match, England finished at 207/2 wherein Duckett was unbeaten on 133 runs with 21 fours and 2 sixes.

Ben Duckett began to take on the Indian bowlers from the first ball of the innings and played aggressive shots. He also added 89 runs along with his partner Zak Crawley, who was dismissed for 15 runs by Ravichandran Ashwin.

Duckett played some unorthodox shots during his time at the crease on Day 2 which includes a reverse sweep against Ravindra Jadeja.

While facing Ravindra Jadeja, on the fifth ball of the 31st over, Ben Duckett showed an example of the power and smacked a reverse sweep towards the offside which went away for a six. Ben Duckett also added 93 runs from 102 balls along with Ollie Pope, who scored 39 runs from 55 balls with five fours and 1 six.

India lost both of their overnight batters in the span of just five runs, as they continued to bat from their 326/5 overnight score. While Ravindra Jadeja slumped against Joe Root and went back for 112 runs from 225 balls, Kuldeep Yadav was removed by James Anderson for 4 runs. Following the outing of both overnight batsmen, Dhruv Jurel and Ravichandran Ashwin came to the rescue for India.

The hosts passed the 400-run threshold thanks to 77 runs from 175 balls added by Dhruv Jurel and Ravichandran Ashwin for the eighth wicket. On his debut, Jurel batted with some flair, scoring 46 runs off 104 balls while smashing two fours and three sixes while at the crease. In addition, Ashwin scored 37 runs from 89 balls in his cameo innings, while Jasprit Bumrah scored 26 runs from 28 balls.

India were ultimately dismissed for 445 runs in their opening half. With four wickets, Mark Wood was the most successful bowler for England. Rehan Ahmed finished the innings with two wickets. Joe Root, Shoaib Bashir, and James Anderson each picked one wicket.

Day 2 was also special for Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin as he entered the 500-wicket mark in Test cricket. Ashwin became the second-fastest bowler to reach 500 wickets in Test cricket and also the second Indian bowler to achieve the milestone.

England have put themselves in the driving seat after the end of Day 2 against India. The three lions will want to continue their attacking approach on Day 3 as well and will look to overtake India’s first innings total as quickly as possible. India, on the other hand, will be aiming to remove Ben Duckett as quickly as possible otherwise he can prove to be very deadly for India on the coming day.

The five-match series between India and England is currently levelled at 1-1. England have been brilliant in the series so far and have given tough competition to the Indian team. The hosts, on the other hand, have not been able to play as champions and have also not been able to bat with their full potential.
