India National Cricket Team captain Rohit Sharma played a spectacular pull shot in the Dharamsala Test off England National Cricket Team express pacer Mark Wood’s thunderbolt that impressed the No.1 ranked T20I batsman Suryakumar Yadav, who took to his official X handle to praise his skipper.

The Indian captain is currently leading his team in the fifth and final Test of the series against Ben Stokes-led England National Cricket Team. Although the hosts have comprehensively sealed the series win 3-1, the last Test holds significant importance with the ICC World Test Championship points on the line.

On Day 1 of the fifth Test at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala, Rohit Sharma did an exceptional job as captain and was great with his field placements as well as bowling changes.

Rohit Sharma’s masterclass combined with Kuldeep Yadav and Ravichandran Ashwin’s dominance meant that the Three Lions failed to put up a big score on the board.

England National Cricket Team were bowled out for 218 in 57.4 overs as Kuldeep Yadav bagged a 5-wicket haul, Ravichandran Ashwin picked 4 wickets and Ravindra Jadeja got one.

For England, the top performer was Zak Crawley, and just like his previous outings on the India tour, the opening batsman failed to convert his start into a big score. Crawley scored 79 runs off 108 balls, before being cleaned up by a Kuldeep Yadav jaffa.

After bundling out the visitors for a low score, the Indian openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma came to bat and the duo made sure to provide India with a good start in the innings.

Both the players batted with positive intent and punished the bowlers from time to time to stay ahead in the match. Rohit and Jaiswal hit terrific half-centuries and added 104 runs in 124 balls for the opening partnership.

The Indian skipper hit some beautiful-looking boundaries during his stay in the middle on Day 1 but the one that caught the attention of fans was his excellent pull shot off express pacer Mark Wood.

On the 4th ball of the 4th over, Mark Wood fired a 151.2 kmph bouncer to Rohit but the pacer wouldn’t have expected that he would get punished. The Indian captain got inside the line and hooked the ball away for a beautiful six.

Notably, Rohit Sharma has mastered the art of pull and there have been very few players in the history of the game who have played the shot that well. Several current and former cricketers admire the pull-shot-hitting ability of the Indian captain. Watch here:

Meanwhile, the star batsman Suryakumar Yadav took to his official X handle to praise the Hitman and he wrote “Rohit Sharma and Pull shot,” with a heart emoji.

At stumps on Day 1, the India National Cricket Team were at 135/1 in 30 overs and they were still 83 runs behind England’s first-innings score. Rohit Sharma (52) was unbeaten in the middle along with Shubman Gill (26) and the duo would be looking forward to playing big innings on Day 2.
