A viral video on social media showed the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in a poor state just days before the match between the Rajasthan Royals (RR) and the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). The conditions looked far from match-ready, raising eyebrows over how the upcoming fixture in IPL 2025 could go ahead.

The Sawai Mansingh Stadium is set to host multiple matches in the IPL 2025 season. Rajasthan Royals will use the iconic venue for five games in the tournament. After hosting their first two home fixtures at the Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati, the inaugural IPL champions return to their original base.

RR to Play Five Home Matches at Sawai Mansingh Stadium

The Sawai Mansingh Stadium underwent upgrades in 2006. It has served as a home ground for Rajasthan's domestic teams, the Indian national side, and the Rajasthan Royals since the inception of the IPL in 2008. This marks the stadium's tenth season hosting IPL games for the Jaipur-based franchise.

The Royals are set to play five matches in Jaipur during IPL 2025. They will begin their campaign at this ground with a clash against Royal Challengers Bengaluru on Sunday, April 13. The Sanju Samson-led team is currently in seventh place on the table, while the Rajat Patidar-led side is in fourth place.

Sawai Mansingh Stadium Damaged Just 2 Days Before Match

Concerns have been raised about the condition of the Sawai Mansingh Stadium. According to recent videos, preparations are still ongoing, with minimal visible progress.

A stadium official acknowledged that the work was delayed due to a storm, which disrupted the scheduled progress. However, the official assured that the stadium would be ready before the match, despite the challenges. The initial deadline for completion was set for the 4th, but that deadline was missed.

Authorities are working tirelessly to ensure everything is in place for the upcoming fixture between the Rajasthan Royals and the Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

Jaipur-based Team Struggles with a Disappointing Start

The Jaipur team has had a disappointing start, winning two out of five matches. They suffered a heavy loss to the Gujarat Titans in their most recent match. Meanwhile, Royal Challengers Bangalore have secured three wins from five matches but also suffered a defeat to Delhi Capitals (DC) in their last outing.

The pitch at Sawai Mansingh Stadium is known for being batter-friendly, with pace bowlers benefiting from the conditions. RR have won 14 of their 29 encounters with RCB, while the Bengaluru side has secured 15 victories. RR has five wins and four losses against RCB in Jaipur.

RR, under Riyan Parag, managed only one win in their first three games. However, recent victories over Chennai Super Kings and Punjab Kings boosted their confidence. The return of Sanju Samson as captain has strengthened their squad.

Royal Challengers Bangalore have an unbeaten record in away conditions. They kicked off their campaign with a victory over the Kolkata Knight Riders. The team also defeated Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Mumbai Indians (MI).
