Ruturaj Gaikwad Fielding Error

CSK captain Ruturaj Gaikwad is usually a safe fielder wherever he is present in the field. But Gaikwad made a blunder in the field to cost his team a boundary during the match between Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Capitals at Chepauk.

During the fifth ball of the penultimate over of the first innings when Delhi Capitals were batting, Tristan Stubbs slammed a slower full toss from the left-arm quick Mukesh Choudhary straight down the ground.

The ball was going to Ruturaj Gaikwad, who ran forward in an attempt to catch the ball. However, the ball landed just in front of him and evaded him to go past the boundary rope.

Ruturaj Gaikwad went for the catch but later realised that he won't be able to catch the ball. By the time he could realise anything, the ball had already bounced in front of him and gone for a four.

The fielding blunder very much summed up CSK's performance with the ball and in the field. A couple of balls ago, bowler Mukesh Choudhary had dropped a simple chance off his own bowling to hand KL Rahul a life.

KL Rahul takes Delhi Capitals to a challenging total

Earlier in the day, Delhi Capitals won the toss and elected to bat first on a hot afternoon at Chepauk. Jake Fraser-McGurk was dismissed for a duck but KL Rahul and Abishek Porel batted splendidly with an aggressive approach.

Abishek scored a fine 33 off 20 balls but was dismissed by Jadeja. Skipper Axar Patel provided some impetus with some blistering shots but Noor Ahmad bowled a fantastic delivery to get his wicket.

Sameer Rizvi, who was slotted into the Playing XI for Faf du Plessis, gave Rahul some company for a fine partnership. While the Capitals kept losing wickets, Rahul stood at one end to hold the innings together.

Rahul was finally dismissed in the last over of the game for a magnificent 77 off just 51 balls by CSK's death overs specialist Matheesha Pathirana. He struck 6 fours and 3 sixes during his knock.

CSK off to a poor start

CSK need 184 runs to win the match on a tricky surface at Chepauk and they needed their captain Ruturaj Gaikwad to lead them from the front. Ruturaj Gaikwad has looked in good touch this season but has been unable to take his team past the finish line.

However, the CSK captain succumbed under pressure and was dismissed for just 5 runs by Mitchell Starc. His wicket was a big turning point in the game as he is the team's best batter.

CSK also lost Rachin Ravindra cheaply for just 3 runs. They are already in the backfoot in this run-chase and need a miraculous innings from one of their batters like KL Rahul did for Delhi Capitals in the first innings.
