S Sreesanth, or as he is known as, S Sreesanth, was in action on the afternoon of Sunday (January 17) in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy playing for Kerala. Notably, Sreesanth, who is a pace bowler was seen bowling leg-spin!
While bowling against Andhra in a group match at the Banda Kurla Complex in Mumbai, the right-arm pacer decided to switch to leg-spin. What’s more shocking is that he even picked a wicket with the same.

Andhra was on their way to comfortably chase down a below-par target of 113 set by Sanju Samson’s team. In the 15th over S Sreesanth was called to bowl. With the match already out of hand, the medium-fast pacer decided to try bowling wrist spin.
S Sreesanth gets wicket bowling leg-spin; Kerala lose their first match of the season
On the fifth ball of the over, Sreesanth, with a skippy run-up resembling that of the legendary spinner Anil Kumble, bowled a short of length delivery to which the batsman at strike, Ashwin Hebbar went on the back foot and played a pull shot.
To Hebbar’s surprise, the ball didn’t travel over the boundary; instead, it went straight to down the throat of Vishnu Vinod at deep mid-wicket. Hebbar stood on the pitch in disbelief, astonished that he holed out to a pacer-turned-spinner.

Sreesanth’s figures of 1/25 couldn’t stop Andhra from handing Kerala their first defeat of the season. S Sreesanth, who is returning to professional cricket after 7 years, has had ordinary returns so far- he has picked 4 wickets in 4 matches, but has been on the expensive side.

Kerala lost their first match of the season after winning three on a trot. They down two massive scores in consecutive matches; against Mumbai, youngster Mohammed Azharuddeen thumped a 37-ball ton, and in the other veteran, Robin Uthappa smashed a scintillating 91.
They will go up against table-toppers Haryana on 19th January for their last group encounter and will hope to seal a place in the quarterfinals with a victory.
