Sachin Tendulkar’s new portrait unveiled at Lord’s MCC Museum
Meanwhile, a brand-new portrait of Sachin Tendulkar was unveiled at the MCC Museum at Lord’s on the opening day of the third Test between India and England. The painting, created by artist Stuart Pearson Wright, is not a typical full-body image like others in the museum.
Instead, this portrait is a powerful close-up of Tendulkar’s head and shoulders, making it stand out at the MCC Museum. The artist used a photo he took 18 years ago at Tendulkar’s home in Mumbai and, over time, transformed it into a detailed oil painting on aluminum, with an abstract background to represent the Indian batter’s timeless legacy in the game of cricket.
This is now the fifth portrait of an Indian cricketer in the MCC collection and the fourth by the same artist after Kapil Dev, Bishan Bedi, and Dilip Vengsarkar. The portrait will stay in the MCC Museum until the end of the 2025 season, after which it will be moved to the prestigious Pavilion at Lord’s.

Moved by this honor, Tendulkar penned down an emotional note on his X handle and shared a number of pictures from the occasion. He wrote, “I first visited Lord’s as a teenager in 1988 and returned in 1989 with the Star Cricket Club team.
I remember standing near the pavilion, soaking in the history and dreaming quietly. Today, to have my portrait unveiled at this very place is a feeling that’s hard to put into words. Life has truly come full circle. I’m grateful and filled with wonderful memories.”
