During the second match of the ILT20 2024 between MI Emirates and Dubai Capitals, Capitals fielder Sam Billings grabbed a blinder at the slips to dismiss Emirates opener Will Smeed for 5 runs. The incident took place on the second ball of the second over when, Smeed tried to drive a fullish pitched ball by Jason Holder. However, the ball took the outside edge of Smeeds’ bat and Billings hung onto a blinder while diving to his right in the slips.

Batting first MI Emirates put up a total of 159/9 wherein opener Muhammad Waseem was the top scorer and scored 51 runs from 26 balls. Other than Waseem, Andre Fletcher smashed 30 off 18 balls whereas skipper Nicholas Pooran never got going and hit 21 runs from 23 balls whereas Tim David scored 27 runs from 22 balls. Other than these batsmen, no other MI batter was able to cross the ten-run mark and was dismissed cheaply.

Jason Holder and Sikandar Raza were the stars of the show for the Dubai Capitals with the ball and picked up three wickets each. On the other hand, Dushmantha Chameera, Reolof van der Merwe, and Akif Raja ended the innings with 1 wicket each.

Chasing down the target, Dubai Capitals have lost skipper and opener David Warner early and he was dismissed for a score of just 1 run. Capitals have top names such as Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Sam Billings, Rovman Powell, and Sikandar Raza, who will have the onus to help the Capitals get over the line against MI Emirates.
