Pakistan fast bowler Shaheen Afridi was involved in a fiery exchange with Lahore Qalandars batter Muhammad Naeem during the PSL 2025 season. Shaheen Afridi tried to unsettle Naeem with a sharp glare after his first delivery, but the batter’s response came in style, sending the very next ball sailing for six.
Mohammad Naeem was instrumental in Lahore’s victory over Quetta Gladiators in the PSL 10 final at Gaddafi Stadium. Chasing 202, the opener scored 47 runs from 27 balls at a strike rate of 174, including six maximums and one boundary. He also etched his name as the first batter to smash six sixes in a PSL final.

Pakistan to begin Tri-Series Campaign Against Afghanistan
Pakistan will begin its tri-series campaign against Afghanistan on Friday, August 29, at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium. The final is scheduled to take place on September 7 between the top two sides, with all matches set to be staged in Sharjah.
Salman Ali Agha, who has already led the national side in 18 matches, will captain the 17-member Pakistan squad. The team has been in the UAE since August 20, holding training sessions and practice games in Dubai to gear up for the contest.
For all three sides, the series will be a crucial preparation ahead of the Asia Cup, which begins on September 9 in Abu Dhabi and Dubai. Pakistan has won four of seven T20Is against Afghanistan.
Shaheen Afridi Struggling Across Formats in International Cricket
Shaheen Shah Afridi has been struggling across formats in international cricket, losing his pace after injuries. The left-arm pacer suffered a knee injury in 2022 that ruled him out of the Asia Cup and later troubled him again during the T20 World Cup Final against England the same year.
Ahead of the Asia Cup 2025, Afridi will be hoping to put those struggles behind him and make a strong comeback. Alongside Haris Rauf, he could provide Pakistan with the cutting edge they have lacked in recent limited-overs cricket.
The team enters the tri-series under pressure after inconsistent batting and bowling performances. Following the tri-series, Pakistan will feature in the Asia Cup, where they are set to face India in Dubai on September 14, with the possibility of another clash if both sides progress to the knockout stages.
