The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) all-rounder Sunil Narine was absolutely shocked despite his clear dismissal during the 15th match of the Indian Premier League 2025 (IPL 2025) on Thursday, April 3.
The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) are hosting the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the high-octane Indian Premier League match at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
Sunil Narine falls in 3rd over
Narine has failed to replicate his success from the IPL 2024 and has been unable to provide the Kolkata Knight Riders with blistering starts while opening the innings.
His poor form continued in the ongoing match against the Sunrisers Hyderabad as he took a long walk back to the pavilion after scoring 7 runs off 7 balls, with one six.
On the third ball of the 3rd over, Mohammed Shami bowled a yorker to Sunil Narine wide of off-stump. The KKR opener backed away and tried to smash the ball towards the off-side.
However, the ball hit his bat and the bat also hit the ground before the SRH keeper Heinrich Klaasen grabbed the diving catch comfortably and started celebrating alongside Mohammed Shami.
Sunil Narine, meanwhile, had a shocked look on his face as he was unsure if the ball had hit the bat. This confusion happened due to the bat hitting the ground and after a small discussion with his skipper Ajinkya Rahane, Sunil Narine walked back to the dugout without burning the review.

Majority of overs used to go to Phil Salt and Sunil Narine - Aakash Chopra
Speaking ahead of the KKR vs SRH clash on ESPNcricinfo, the former India cricketer Aakash Chopra said that the Kolkata Knight Riders need to bat more responsibly despite having depth in the batting unit. He elaborated:
"If we talk about 4-5-6-7 last year, 1-2-3 used to play so well, After that the role used to be very small. If you look at Rinku Singh today, You will have to look for impactful innings in 2024. Same is the case with Andre Russell. One cameo here, one cameo there. Majority of overs used to go to Phil Salt and Sunil Narine. Then Venkatesh Iyer and Shreyas Iyer. The batting didn't used to come after 2 Iyers."
"If there is no such set-up, If it has changed, Which has changed this year, Then there is a little more responsibility on you. And they also have the same case. If we look at the last match of Wankhede, In the first match, they were 100 in 10 overs.
"Then suddenly you make more at 75. And the team is almost all out. You can still understand that one completely collapsed. In the second match, they didn't bat. In the third match, I didn't understand that If you have Ramandeep at 9, And you make a total of 116 runs. In 16 overs, the whole team gets out. So either it will be a very green top or it will be a rank turner. There was nothing like that in Wankhede. So this means that there is a lack of responsibility. So a little realization is necessary."
