Punjab Kings (PBKS) skipper Shreyas Iyer was seen in an animated conversation with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) pacer Khaleel Ahmed after their IPL 2025 match. While the exact conversation remains unclear, the video sparked speculation and widespread chatter among fans across social media platforms.

Punjab Kings secured an 18-run victory over Chennai Super Kings in the match in Mullanpur on Tuesday, April 8. Khaleel Ahmed dismissed Shreyas Iyer for nine runs off seven balls during the match. The ball landed on the off stump, and the PBKS batter attempted a big shot without proper footwork.

The Chennai Super Kings’ disappointing performance on the field. After the match, Shreyas Iyer and Khaleel Ahmed had a confrontation. Iyer was caught on camera in an animated exchange with Khaleel, which many online interpreted as a confrontation.

The exact reason behind the interaction remains unclear. Notably, the video fueled speculation and debate across social media platforms. Khaleel was also involved in a similar incident with Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) batter Virat Kohli following a loss earlier in the T20 tournament.

Khaleel Ahmed has a good record against Shreyas Iyer in the IPL. The left-arm seamer has removed the Punjab Kings captain three times in seven matchups. He conceded only 33 runs from 24 deliveries.

Priyansh Arya Scores Maiden IPL Century Against CSK

After electing to bat, PBKS posted a total of 219 runs for 6 wickets. Priyansh Arya, who was dismissed for a golden duck in the previous match, scored 103 off just 42 balls. Arya reached his century in just 39 deliveries. The young opener smashed Matheesha Pathirana for three sixes and a four in a single over.

Prabhsimran Singh, Shreyas Iyer, and Marcus Stoinis fell early in the powerplay. Ravichandran Ashwin struck twice in one over to remove Nehal Wadhera and Glenn Maxwell. However, Shashank Singh (52 off 36 balls) and Marco Jansen (34 off 19) ensured PBKS finished strongly with an unbeaten 65-run stand.

Chennai Super Kings Fall Short in Yet Another Chase

Chennai Super Kings fell short once again while chasing. CSK got off to a brisk start as openers Rachin Ravindra (36 off 23) and Devon Conway (69 off 49) stitched a 61-run partnership. However, all-rounder Glenn Maxwell dismissed Ravindra. Ruturaj Gaikwad departed for just 1 off Lockie Ferguson's bowling.

Conway and Shivam Dube (42 off 27) added an 89-run partnership. However, Dube was undone by a slower delivery from Lockie Ferguson. MS Dhoni, batting at No. 5, added 27 runs off 12 balls. Conway was retired after struggling to accelerate. CSK finished at 201/5, falling 18 runs short of the target.
