Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill shared some light-hearted moments after Gujarat Titans thrashed Sunrisers Hyderabad by seven wickets in the 19th game of the ongoing IPL 2025 on Sunday, April 6, at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad.

While Abhishek Sharma’s poor form continues in the ongoing IPL 2025, Shubman Gill is leading the Gujarat Titans from the front with the bat in the tournament. The left-handed SRH opener fell for just 18 runs off 16 balls to Mohammed Siraj, and his team could post only 152/8 on the board.

Chasing the target, Shubman Gill led GT from the front to a dominating victory over SRH. Gill played a stunning knock of an unbeaten 61 runs off 43 balls with the help of 9 boundaries to take the Gujarat Titans over the line with 20 balls to spare against the Sunrisers Hyderabad.

After Gill finished the match with a single against the SRH captain Pat Cummins, the GT captain and Sherfane Rutherford (35*) were greeted by the Hyderabad stars on the pitch and congratulated them for the seven-wicket victory in the IPL 2025 clash on Sunday.

As the right-handed batter was leaving for the dressing room, Abhishek approached his India teammate since Under-19 days and shook hands before the GT skipper seemingly teased the SRH opener about his expensive over in the match.

Shubman Gill pulls Abhishek Sharma’s leg after GT’s big win over SRH

Actually, Cummins handed the ball to Abhishek Sharma in the 15th over, and Sherfane Rutherford made a mockery of the part-time left-arm spinner with his brutal hitting at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad on Sunday.

Rutherford had smoked three back-to-back boundaries against Abhishek. After which, he bowled a wide outside off, and he had to bowl again only for worse, as the West Indian hard-hitter hit another boundary.

However, in the next delivery, the GT batter didn’t get a run, and on the final ball, he got a single as Abhishek bowled only one over and conceded 18 runs off just one over. And after the match, Gill didn’t miss a chance to pull his friend's leg for his bowling that made their chase easy.

Gujarat Titans roar to second spot in IPL 2025 points table

Meanwhile, the Gujarat Titans are on a roll in the ongoing IPL 2025. With three back-to-back wins, they’ve jumped up to second place on the points table, and their big win over SRH has not only given them two crucial points but also given a nice boost to their net run rate (+1.031).

One of the biggest positives from the game was Shubman Gill finding his form again. GT’s top order looks rock solid, and their bowlers are doing a smart job with both variety and sharpness this season. Notably, Mohammed Siraj won Player of the Match for his four-wicket haul against the SRH.

On the other hand, things aren’t looking good for Sunrisers Hyderabad. They kicked off the season with a stunning win over the Rajasthan Royals, but since then, nothing has been going on on their side.
