Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) rattled the table topper of IPL 2025, Gujarat Titans. After the match, Gujarat Titans skipper Shubman Gill seemingly ignored LSG captain Rishabh Pant during the customary handshake between all the players.
Fans are asking why Gill ignored Pant after the match. Is it because of the Test captaincy, as Gill and Pant both are the front-runner contenders for the skipper of the Indian Test team or is it because LSG crushed GT's hope to finish in the top 2 positions in the points table?

Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant’s performance
Rishabh Pant’s form hasn’t been great this season, but in yesterday’s match against Gujarat, Pant came in the death overs and hit two sixes in six balls, and gave his team a brilliant finish.
Shubman Gill came in the crease to chase a mammoth score of 236 runs, and Gill started well by targeting pacers in the powerplay. Gill scored 35 runs in 20 balls but fell to Avesh Khan in the eighth over of the innings.
This was also a rare instance in Gujarat’s innings that from their top 3 batters, no batter scored a half-century looking at the hot form they have been in IPL 2025.
LSG finally tasted victory
LSG made a solid comeback in IPL 2025 and defeated Gujarat Titans by 33 runs. Shubman Gill invited Rishabh Pant and co. to bat first.
Mitchell Marsh’s masterclass helped LSG to post 235 runs in the first innings. Marsh scored his first IPL ton as he scored 117 runs in just 64 balls.
Nicholas Pooran also scored an unbeaten quick-fire half-century. In response, Gujarat never looked like chasing the target, but Shahrukh Khan’s 57 off 29 gave hope to Gujarat. However, no one from the lower order stepped up and ultimately lost the match by 33 runs.
