Shubman Gill hits Tanzim Hasan Sakib for a beautiful six

Gill and Rohit provided India with a good start while chasing the target of 229 runs against Bangladesh. Rohit played his natural attacking brand of cricket and decimated the Bangladesh bowling attack.

The 25-year-old Gill provided his skipper with good support, and from time to time, he also hit boundaries to put more pressure on the opposition team.

Meanwhile, the one shot that caught the attention of everyone came from Gill's bat in the 9th over of the innings. On the fourth ball of the over, Gill hit Tanzim Hasan Sakib for an insane six and Rohit Sharma was left impressed.

The pacer bowled a short-of-length delivery to Gill around off-stump. Gill played a short-arm jab like a loft off the front foot and sent the ball flying into the second-tier over deep mid-wicket for a monstrous 98-m six.

As the camera panned towards Rohit at the other end, the Indian skipper passed a smile and shrugged in acknowledgment of the sensational shot played by the youngster.

Bangladesh's last ODI victory over India came in the Asia Cup 2023

On September 15, 2023, Bangladesh bagged a memorable 6-run victory over India in the Super Four stage of the Asia Cup in Colombo. It was a dead rubber game as India had already booked a place in the final.

After being invited to bat first, Bangladesh's top-order collapsed and they were in trouble at 59 for 4. However, Shakib Al Hasan (80 off 85) and Towhid Hridoy (54 off 81) bailed the team out of trouble with an amazing partnership. Also, Nasum Ahmed (44) and Mahedi Hasan (29*) made late contributions to steer Bangladesh to a competitive 265/8 total.

When it was their turn to bowl, the Bangladesh attack did a fantastic job. Debutant pacer Tanzim Hasan Sakib surprised the Men In Blue by dismissing Rohit Sharma for a duck and Tilak Varma for 5, reducing India to 17 for 2.

Despite the early setbacks, Shubman Gill stood tall with a brilliant 121 off 133. However, Bangladesh’s bowlers kept picking up wickets at regular intervals to tighten their grip in the match.

Shakib Al Hasan, Mahedi Hasan, and Mustafizur Rahman chipped in with crucial wickets to put India on the back foot. Axar Patel’s late blitz (42 off 34) gave India hope, but Bangladesh bowlers held their nerves and bowled out India for 259 in 49.5 overs to seal a victory.
