India National Cricket Team batting coach Sitanshu Kotak was involved in an animated chat with the young Tamil Nadu batsman Sai Sudharsan after he missed out on a century in the second Test against the West Indies National Cricket Team.
The second and last Test match of the series between the India National Cricket Team and the West Indies National Cricket Team started on Friday, October 10, at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
Sai Sudharsan falls short of a well-deserved century
The 23-year-old Sudharsan was under pressure heading into the match as he was unable to repay the faith shown by the Gautam Gambhir-led team management.
Sudharsan was mostly unimpressive in the first four Test matches that he played for India and wasn't able to register big scores. In the first Test against West Indies at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, where the conditions were good for batting, he could only score 7 runs.
Meanwhile, in the second Test, the conditions once again were batting-friendly, and this time, Sai Sudharsan didn't waste the opportunity and hit good runs. He looked determined to play a big knock and reached the half-century milestone off 87 balls.
Sudharsan didn't look satisfied with fifty and slowly approached the three-figure mark. The way West Indies bowlers were bowling, it looked like the batter would certainly hit a century, but unfortunately, that didn't happen.
On the third ball of the 69th over, spinner Jomel Warrican bowled a sharp spinning delivery that beat the inside edge of Sai Sudharsan and hit him on the back leg. The on-field umpire instantly raised his finger after the appeal from the West Indies players.
However, a reluctant Sai Sudharsan asked for a review, and the ball-tracking showed that there was no bat involved and the ball would have hit the stumps.
A disappointing Sai Sudharsan walked back to the hut after scoring 87 runs off 165 balls, with 12 fours, and he was spotted having an animated chat with batting coach Sitanshu Kotak on the balcony. In a lengthy chat, Kotak was seemingly spotted highlighting the error made by the Tamil Nadu batter that led to his dismissal.

It was a good contribution, good partnership between me and Jaiswal - Sai Sudharsan
Speaking to broadcasters after the end of the day's play, Sai Sudharsan said that he expressed himself in the middle and played freely without getting under any kind of pressure. He stated:
"It was a good contribution, good partnership between me and Jaiswal. Hopefully, we'll have longer partnerships and get a big score. Definitely, I wasn't thinking about getting runs, so I was a bit more free, expressed myself, took time rather than rushing things.
"I didn't try to make things happen. Grateful for whatever I've done, but there's always something in the mind to make a lot more, happy with the runs, but would want to make more. Exciting to watch him bat from the other end, he converts good balls into boundary balls, that's so good to see."
