“Neeraj Chopra is bringing home the Gold!” Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar and former pacer Ashish Nehra swooned into the song to express their elation and pride over the Javelin thrower who brought the country its first-ever track and field gold Olympic medal at Tokyo.

Neeraj Chopra is only the second individual Indian Olympic gold medalist after Abhinav Bindra, who won at the 2008 Beijing Olympics in the shooting. In his second throw, Chopra recorded 87.58 meters; as soon as he threw the Javelin he roared and raised his arms in celebration even before it had landed.

Sunil Gavaskar and Ashish Nehra, both of whom are part of the commentary panel of the ongoing  Test match between India and England for broadcasters Sony Network, joined the Olympic commentary team to celebrate this historic moment.

Commentator Ayaz Memon recently posted a video where the cricketing duo is singing a song dedicated to Chopra, written by Somdev Devvarman.

Sunil Gavaskar and former pacer Ashish Nehra were part of the 1983 and 2011 World Cup-winning teams and they first-hand know the feeling of being on top of the world. The former opener, in fact, was enthusiastic and merrily flowed with the tunes of the song.

Sunil Gavaskar predicts India to win 3-0 or 4-1 against England

The 72-year-old has already made his prediction about the Test series – he reckons Virat Kohli’s side will defeat the hosts by either 4-0 or 3-1 in the 5-match Test series. Gavaskar underlined England is weakened by the loss of Ben Stokes, Jofra Archer, and Chris Woakes and is heavily dependant on Joe Root.

England is without three of their impact players in Ben Stokes, Jofra Archer, and Chris Woakes, and their batting, apart from skipper Joe Root, looks brittle. So India has a great chance to turn the tables and win this time around. This team can definitely beat England. My prediction is 4-0 if the sun is out on most days or 3-1 if the conditions are overcast,” he said.
