The tenth and the ongoing season of the Big Bash League has witnessed some enthralling and unforgettable moments. However, it was none like what Sydney Thunder’s Oliver Davies did so far in his debut. Oliver Davies hammered a one-handed six against seasoned T20 bowler Jason Behrendorff of Perth Scorchers on Tuesday. Sydney Thunder ended up winning against Perth Scorchers comfortably.

Oliver Davies, who enjoyed a stellar debut, smacked a one-handed six in the 11th over of the innings. Jason Behrendorff unleashed a well-directed short-pitched delivery to Davies, took a swing at it and smashed the ball towards square leg, releasing one hand off the handle of the bat in the process. The ball ended up sailing way back over the boundary. The 20-year old collected 36 runs in 22 balls, batting at number four, laced with one four and three sixes.

When Davies came out to bat, the Sydney Thunder were relatively at sea, having lost Usman Khawaja and Alex Hales, who perished for a first-ball duck. Davies’ counterattacking knock provided them with the much-required momentum in the match. Sydney Thunder chased 153 with seven wickets to spare back of an unbeaten half-century from the captain Callum Ferguson while Ben Cutting also chipped in with 29 off 16 balls. Ferguson also earned the man of the match award for his 61 off 53 balls that included seven fours and a six.
