Watch: T Dilip Brings Fielder Of The Series In Indian Dressing Room, Star Pacer Wins It For The 1st Time

The Best Fielder’s medal was one of the most hyped-up things in the Indian dugout during the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. Fielding coach T Dilip alongside the Indian team management came up with the idea of the ‘Best Fielder’s Medal’ and there were different players who got this during the World Cup. Now after the World Cup, the fielding coach has come up with a new idea to highlight the best fielders and give them the credit they deserve.

India’s fielding coach T Dilip revealed the ‘Impact Fielder Of The Series’ Medal in the dressing room after the third T20I between India and South Africa. T Dilip said that from now on rather than having a best fielder for every match, they will have an analysis of the most impactful fielder in the entire series and the best one will get the medal.

The first three nominees for the Impact Fielder of the Series Medal were Rinku Singh, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Mohammed Siraj. The three of them were really active around the field during the IND VS SA T20I series. Rinku Singh has been very fast on the field and Yashasvi Jaiswal has had a safe pair of hands throughout the series whereas Mohammed Siraj showed great intent in the field- running and diving just after finishing an over.

T Dilip Gives Mohammed Siraj The First-Ever Impact Fielder Of The Series Medal

Mohammed Siraj won the first Impact Fielder of the Series Medal for his terrific performance on the field throughout the two matches. He incurred the run-out of opener Reeza Hendricks with his direct hit and took a beautiful boundary line catch in the second T20I. After winning the medal Siraj said, “Been waiting for this medal since the World Cup and have finally got this. The lesson learnt from this is ‘Never give Up’.”

India squared the T20I series 1-1 as the first match was washed out and the second was won by South Africa by five wickets. Now the Indian team will play a three-match ODI series against the Proteas where KL Rahul will be leading the side. Rinku Singh has got his maiden ODI call up and it will be interesting to see how the youngster performs in the longer white-ball format.
