The second Test between Pakistan and Bangladesh finally got underway in Rawalpindi on the second day after Day 1 was washed out due to persistent rain and a wet outfield.

Bangladesh made one change as Taskin Ahmed replaced Shoriful Islam as the latter was ruled out due to a niggle on his groin. Taskin made an immediate impact as he was trusted to bowl the first over of the match.

Taskin Ahmed was right on target as he kept Abdullah Shafique guessing in the first five balls. In the last ball of the over, he produced a perfect wicket-taking ball that pitched up outside off stump and came in at a high pace. Abdullah Shafique tried to defend the ball on the front foot but the ball sneaked past the inside edge and crashed into the top of the stumps.

Abdullah Shafique was dismissed for a sixth ball-duck and his poor series with the bat continued. It was a rollicking start by the visitors as they rocked Pakistan by using the early seam movement on offer.

Shan Masood and Saim Ayub take Pakistan unscathed till lunch

Pakistan were under pressure after losing Shafique early but skipper Shan Masood played positively after arriving at No. 3. Both Masood and opener Saim Ayub played a positive brand of cricket as they made full use of all the poor balls on offer.

Pakistan finished 99-1 at lunch with both Ayub and Masood looking good. Masood had completed a well-deserved half-century. However, Bangladesh bowlers fought back after lunch as Mehidy Hasan Miraz trapped Shan Masood in front of the stumps for 57 off 69 balls.

Saim Ayub completed his second half-century in Tests but was soon dismissed while attempting an expansive shot down the ground off Mehidy Hasan Miraz. Ayub was dismissed for 58 as Pakistan were reduced to 122-3.

However, Babar Azam and Saud Shakeel stabilized the innings as they kept Bangladeshi bowlers at bay. Shakeel was looking good before he chopped a ball from Taskin Ahmed onto his stumps to be dismissed for 16.

Pakistan are currently trailing 0-1 in the two-match Test series. The Men in Green suffered a shocking defeat in the first match where opted to go with four fast bowlers. However, their move backfired as the pitch hardly had any assistance for the seamers after the ball got old.

In the second Test, Pakistan made two changes as they brought in Abrar Ahmed and Mir Hamza in place of Shaheen Afridi and Naseem Shah. While Shaheen Afridi was dropped for the Test match, Pakistan skipper Shan Masood announced at the toss that Naseem Shah had been rested.
