As the final day of play reached its climax, Surrey appeared on the brink of securing a hard-earned draw. Jordan Clark and Kemar Roach, batting at ninth wicket, had valiantly defended against Somerset's attack for over 11 consecutive overs without scoring a single run.

But their unwavering resistance was finally shattered by Jack Leach, who dismissed Clark with a catch behind the stumps and quickly followed up with a lbw dismissal of Dan Worrall. Jack Leach’s dramatic double strike ignited jubilation among the Somerset players, who erupted into ecstatic celebrations, with all 11 players gathered around the pitch.

Amidst the celebration, an iconic moment unfolded as Tom Banton, on crutches due to an ankle injury sustained earlier in the match, made his way onto the field. He ran onto the pitch with crutches as the Somerset wicketkeeper James Rew picked him up in his arms as the duo celebrated their county team’s memorable win over Surrey in Taunton.
