Trent Boult rattles stumps of Sunil Narine

Sunil Narine made his return to the Kolkata Knight Riders playing XI after missing the previous match against Rajasthan Royals as he was unwell.

However, Narine was not able to impress with the bat on his return and he bagged a 2-ball duck. On the fourth ball of the first over, Trent Boult bowled a full 136.2kph delivery to Narine on the middle stump.

The ball had a good amount of away swing, and Narine exposed his stumps as he moved to the leg side in the process to play an expansive shot, but as the bat was nowhere near the ball, the stumps were shattered.

Overall, Boult and Narine have come against each other 4 times in the Indian Premier League and all 4 times, the pacer has got the better of the all-rounder. Narine has scored 19 runs in 17 balls against Boult while being dismissed 4 times.

Also, the wicket of Narine was Boult's 30th in the first over of an innings in the Indian Premier League.

The premier left-arm pacer Boult eventually finished with the bowling figures of 1/23 in his 4 overs. Ashwani Kumar was the top performer for MI in the bowling department as he bagged a 4-wicket haul and played a key role in KKR being bowled out for 116.

Trent Boult was backed to shine vs Kolkata Knight Riders

Speaking ahead of the MI vs KKR match on ESPNCricinfo, the veteran Indian batter Cheteshwar Pujara said that the conditions at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai would offer swing and Trent Boult could make the most of it in the powerplay overs for the Mumbai Indians. He had said:

"Yeah, and if you look at that pitch, no matter whether you've played or not, I mean, that suits any batter. It's a very nice pitch to bat on. So it will be very important for a moment in bowlers, especially Boult and Chahar, to swing the ball. And I think that will be an ideal condition for them.

"Because this time of the year, in the evening, if you're bowling under lights, there will be some swing. It obviously, clearly mentioned that the ball isn't swinging for long. So they'll have to make the most of the first three or four overs and try and get a couple of wickets in that."
