Watch: Tristan Stubbs takes a one-handed 'Superman' catch to dismiss Moeen Ali

During the SA20 2024 match between Sunrisers Eastern Cape and Joburg Super Kings, Eastern Cape wicketkeeper Tristan Stubbs took a ‘superman’ catch. Super Kings batsman Moeen Ali fell against Marco Jansen for a duck while trying to touch down the leg side ball.

During the fifth ball of the sixth over, a ball pitched on the short length and was angling outside the leg stump. Moeen Ali tried to touch the ball and wanted to tickle the ball for four runs down the leg side. However, in the end, Ali ended up edging the ball and the ball went straight to Tristan Stubbs. While diving to his right, Tristan Stubbs took a one-handed blinder and became the reason behind Moeen Ali’s end of innings.

It has been a busy day for Tristan Stubbs with the gloves as he has already taken four catches behind the stumps. It was a terrible start for the Joburg Super Kings, as they lost two back-to-back wickets on two balls. Faf du Plessis and Reeza Hendricks were removed for a duck by Daniel Worrall. Leus du Plooy as well was not able to do much and fell after scoring 18 runs from 12 balls.

While at one end, Wayne Madson was trying to score some runs and was hitting a few shots, Kyle Simmonds and Donovan Ferreira also were not able to do much and departed after scoring 3 and 8 runs respectively. Madsen’s stay at the crease was ended by Patrick Kuger and he departed after scoring 32 runs from 23 balls. He hit a total of five fours and one six during his stay at the crease.

Joburg Super Kings have lost their first eight wickets for just 68 runs in 12.1 overs. Daniel Worrall has been the pick of the bowlers so far and has picked up 3 wickets. Bayers Swanepoel and Patrick Kruger have picked up 2 wickets each whereas Marco Jansen has picked 1 wicket so far.

Sunrisers Eastern Cape and Joburg Super Kings are currently placed in the third and fourth positions in the SA20 2024 points table. At one end, Super Kings has won 2 out of 8 games whereas Eastern Cape has ended up winning 4 out of 7 games. Super Kings registered a brilliant ten-wicket victory in their previous match against MI Cape Town. On the other hand, Sunrisers also defeated MI Cape Town by 4 runs in their previous game.

The SA20 has established itself as one of the best leagues in the world, and the second edition till now has been an absolute blockbuster so far. The SA20 can also be said as a mini IPL as all the teams in the tournament are owned by the owners of the IPL teams.

Reigning champions, Sunrisers Eastern Cape, under the leadership of Aiden Markram, will try to retain their crown. However, groups like the Joburg Super Kings and MI Cape Town also have a strong chance of winning this time. The Pretoria Capitals, Durban Super Giants, and Paarl Royals are likewise not to be taken lightly.
