Liam Livingstone dismissed for 9

Livingstone failed to deliver a good performance for England in the ongoing ICC Champions Trophy 2025. In the first two matches, he registered the scores of 14 and 10, and with the ball, he had the figures of 1/47 and 2/28.

Then, in the third match, he showcased a dreadful batting and was dismissed in the 22nd over, leaving England reeling at 114/6.

On the fourth ball of the over, Keshav Maharaj bowled a loopy delivery as he saw Livingstone charging down. Liam Livingstone tried to smash the ball across the line, but it dipped and turned in sharply to beat the outside edge. Heinrich Klaasen quickly collected the ball and had all the time in the world to whip the bails off as the Englishman was way out of the crease.

It was an absolutely ugly dismissal that would've left the England head coach, Brendon McCullum, fuming as he went for a bizarre shot and offered easy stumping to Klaasen.

Liam Livingstone was dismissed for 15-ball 9 and it was not the first time that he got out while charging down the track in ODIs. Overall, while going down the track, he has scored 97 runs in 62 balls and has been dismissed 8 times, averaging just 12.12.

How Did England Perform in Their Previous ICC Champions Trophy 2025 Match?

England were stunned by Afghanistan in their previous ICC Champions Trophy 2025 match and their campaign in the competition ended. The Three Lions lost the match against the Afghans by 8 runs in Lahore. In a game filled with dramatic twists, England fell just short in their chase of 326 and faced a painful exit.

Afghanistan won the toss and elected to bat first in the match. They put up a huge total of 325/7 on the board, thanks to a historic 177 runs off 146 balls from opener Ibrahim Zadran.

Despite an early triple-strike from Jofra Archer (3/64), Afghanistan recovered through crucial contributions from Ibrahim Zadran, Hashmatullah Shahidi (40), Azmatullah Omarzai (41), and Mohammad Nabi (40 off 24). Ibrahim Zadran batted brilliantly and troubled the English team. He registered the highest-ever individual score in the history of the ICC Champions Trophy

Chasing the target, England lost Phil Salt (12) and Jamie Smith (9) early. Joe Root, however, played a magnificent knock of 120 from 111 balls, his first ODI century since 2019, to keep England in the hunt.

Ben Duckett (38), Jos Buttler (38), and Jamie Overton (32) provided support, but the Afghan bowlers kept picking wickets at regular intervals. Azmatullah Omarzai (5/58) turned the game in Afghanistan’s favor, dismissing Root at a crucial moment and wrapping up the tail as England were bowled out for 317 runs in 49.5 overs.
