Umpire checks Hardik Pandya's bat:
While Hardik Pandya could not make a big impact with the bat, his bat still grabbed a lot of eyeballs. The reason was a rare incident that took place when he came out to bat. Before the Mumbai Indians star could even take the strike, on-field umpire Chris Gaffaney was seen examining the width of his bat to make sure it was well under the set guidelines of the tournament.
The umpire took out the gauge and ran through Hardik Pandya's bat. The umpire did not find any fault with the bat, and the allrounder was allowed to take the strike with the same bat.

It was not the first time on Sunday (April 13) that the umpires decided to check the bat. During the first game of the day between Rajasthan Royals and Royal Challengers Bengaluru, the umpires had also checked Shimron Hetmyer and Philip Salt’s bats.
The IPL has set the limit for the width of the bat. According to the existing rule, the width of the bat should not exceed 4.25 inches or 10.8 centimetres.
"The blade of the bat shall not exceed the following dimensions: Width: 4.25in / 10.8 cm, Depth: 2.64in / 6.7 cm, Edges: 1.56in / 4.0cm. Furthermore, it should also be able to pass through a bat gauge," states the playing conditions of the IPL 2025.
