India U19 Women's National Cricket Team player Vaishnavi Sharma scripted history in the U19 Women's World Cup match against Malaysia U19 Women's National Cricket Team. The match between the two teams took place on Tuesday (21st January) at the Bayuemas Oval in Kuala Lumpur.

Vaishnavi came up with a magical effort with the ball and helped her team bundle out the opposition for a low total. She was all over the Malaysia batters as she wreaked havoc and took the hat trick, becoming the first player from India in the history of the tournament to achieve the feat.

Vaishnavi, who made her debut for the team, made sure that she set the stage on fire with the ball in her maiden outing. She started her spell with wickets of Nur Dania Syuhada and Nuriman Hiyadah and, after that, didn't look back as she removed Nur Ain Binti Roslan, Nur Isma Dania and Siti Nazwah to claim a hat-trick.

Vaishnavi trapped Nur Ain Binti Roslan and Nur Isma Dania in lbw before casting the stumps of Siti Nazwah.

Vaishnavi Sharma went on to pick the fifer, returned with the figures of 4-1-5-5 against Malaysia

Vaishnavi Sharma went on to pick the fifer and returned with the figures of 4-1-5-5 against Malaysia. With her hat-trick, she joined South Africa’s Madison Landsman in the list of bowlers with a hat-trick in the history of the U19 Women's World Cup.

South Africa’s Madison Landsman holds the record of the first bowler in the U19 Women’s T20 World Cup to take a hat-trick. She achieved the feat in the group stage fixture against Scotland and finished with figures of 4/12 back in 2023.

Along with Vaishnavi Sharma, Aayushi Shukla was also among the wickets. She picked figures of 3.3-1-8-3 and based on the staggering effort with the ball, India U19 Women's National Cricket Team bundled out the opposition for just 31 runs inside 15 overs.

Chasing the target, came out all guns blazing. Opener Gongadi Trisha scored an unbeaten 27 off 12 balls while G Kamalini stayed not out at 4. With the win, India U19 Women's National Cricket Team went to the top of the table in Group A with four points and a net run rate of +9.148.

Talking about her performance, Vaishnavi Sharma said that it was a dream debut for her. She also revealed that Radha Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja are her idols. Speaking after the game, she said:

"This was a dream debut to get a hat-trick and five-wicket haul. My journey has had its ups and downs. I look up to Radha Yadav (India's senior left-arm spinner) and Ravindra Jadeja. I had visualised how to get wickets here last night."
