Kolkata Knight Riders' left-hand batter Venkatesh Iyer was in a fun mood last night as he acted like a WWE superstar after helping his side reach the IPL 2024 final.

Venkatesh Iyer was on absolute fire yesterday against the Sunrisers Hyderabad during their Qualifier 1 match at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Iyer's knock was complimented by captain Shreyas Iyer, who scored the winning runs of the match to see off Pat Cummins' side by 8 wickets.

With that victory, KKR became the first side in IPL 2024 to reach the finals, which is also their first appearance at the final since 2021. 3 years ago, the Knight Riders had lost to the Chennai Super Kings by 27 runs at the Dubai International Stadium. But this year, they have the chance to become the 3rd IPL outfit after Mumbai Indians and CSK to claim 3 titles in the richest T20 league in the world.

Venkatesh Iyer's entrance makes Harsha Bhogle giggle

After playing out a match-winning knock against the Sunrisers Hyderabad, Venkatesh Iyer was in a mood to show off. He was the first one to speak to the commentators after the match and he made sure to display his swag in the best way possible.

Venkatesh Iyer was standing sideways in front of the advertising display during his appearance at the post-match interview with Harsha Bhogle. Iyer's side pose was almost as if a WWE superstar was waiting for his name to get announced before getting into the action inside the ring.

For almost 5 seconds, Venkatesh Iyer had his head down, waiting for a prompt. That's when Harsha Bhogle asked Iyer to stand straight and face the camera for the post-match chat. "You might want to look this way Venkatesh." - Bhogle said in a hilarious tone.

Upon hearing the orders, Venkatesh Iyer, in all his swag and style, moved across and stood face-to-face with the camera. Iyer's turn made Bhogle and his fellow co-commentators burst into a laugh before the latter asked, "Was that your best camera angle that you were giving us?" In his response, Iyer said that he was just trying to have some fun.

Iyer gives credit to the bowlers for KKR's win

Harsha Bhogle then asked about the basis of KKR's dominating victory over SRH and asked Venkatesh Iyer to shed light on his performance.

To that, Iyer stated that he was extremely eager to go out in the middle and bat since the Knight Riders played their last match on 11th May. Shreyas Iyer's side could not play their 13th and 14th league match against Gujarat and Rajasthan due to the excessive rain which saw the match get abandoned without a ball being played.

So for that reason, Venkatesh Iyer was hungry to bat and he eventually got his rewards with a sensational 28-ball 51* knock. Iyer then gave the credit to KKR's bowling department, led by Mitchell Starc, for the imperious victory.

"More than the confidence I was really wanting to go out and bat, we last played a game on 11th, so we all were eager to go out and showcase our talent. The wicket was really good, credit goes to our bowlers for bowling them out for 160 odd." - Iyer said.
