Left-arm spinner Krunal Pandya would indeed have an unforgettable ODI debut, regardless of the result in the opening match between India and England in Pune. Krunal Pandya’s half-century could prove to be the difference between the two sides; however, his bowling figures could also affect India negatively. But the 29-year old was also involved in a hilarious moment with the captain, Virat Kohli.

The incident occurred in the 28th over and Krunal’s fifth when the ball hit Sam Billings’ bat as he nudged it to sweeper cover. Despite the ball striking Billings’ middle of the bat, the left-arm spinner appealed to the umpire, asking for LBW dismissal. Hearing the same, Virat Kohli burst into laughter as he knew that the ball hit the keeper-batsman’s bat’s middle. Thus, there was no question of going for the review.

Krunal Pandya had a memorable outing with the bat earlier in the game when he propelled India to 317 from a tricky position in their first innings. The Baroda-born cricketer slammed the fastest half-century on ODI debut, doing so in 26 balls. He finished unbeaten at 58 off 31 deliveries, consisting of seven fours and two maximums. Pandya shared an unbroken stand of 112 in 57 balls with KL Rahul to rescue the hosts. But the left-arm spinner took a lot of beating from Jason Roy initially, with his figures reading as 9-0-58-0. There were also half-centuries from Virat Kohli, Shikhar Dhawan, and KL Rahul.
