The iconic Wankhede Stadium was alive with excitement as thousands of fans gathered to celebrate India's ICC T20 World Cup 2024 triumph after the victory parade around Mumbai.

Amid the jubilant atmosphere, Virat Kohli showered rich praise on Jasprit Bumrah during his speech. The Indian speedster was on fire with the ball and played a crucial role in the Indian cricket team’s T20 World Cup 2024 triumph.

Whenever the Men in Blue found themselves in danger, Bumrah rescued them and won the matches for the team. Even in the final, with South Africa needing 30 runs from the remaining 30 deliveries, hopes were dwindling in the India camp.

Then, the Indian skipper Rohit Sharma handed the ball to Bumrah, who bowled two of the final five overs, conceding only six runs and taking Marco Jansen's wicket, to turn the momentum in India's favor against South Africa.

At the end, Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh, and Hardik Pandya kept things tight while holding their nerves under immense pressure to end India's 13-year-long drought in the ICC World Cup. It was India's first ICC title after 11 years of drought.

Bumrah finished the tournament as the third-highest wicket-taker with 15 wickets, maintaining an impressive economy rate of just 4.17. His outstanding performance earned him the Player of the Tournament award.

Virat Kohli ready to sign a petition declaring Jasprit Bumrah the "8th Wonder of the World"

Meanwhile, Virat Kohli declared Jasprit Bumrah a "national treasure" and the "8th Wonder of the World" during the facilitation ceremony at the packed Wankhede Stadium on June 4. When the presenter, Kunal Kapoor, asked if he would sign a petition to declare Bumrah the eighth wonder of the world and the national treasure, Kohli promptly said "yes.".

As reported by Hindustan Times, Virat Kohli said at the felicitation ceremony: “I'll sign the petition for Jasprit Bumrah. He is a once-in-a-generation bowler. Like everyone in the stadium here, we also felt at one point if it is going to slip away again, but what happened in those last five overs was truly, truly special.

You know what I'd like everyone to do is applaud a guy who brought us back into games again and again and again in this tournament. What he did in those last five overs, bowling two out of the last five overs, was phenomenal. A huge round of applause for Jasprit Bumrah, please. A huge shoutout to Jasprit Bumrah. We are lucky that he plays for us.”

However, the dashing right-hander, who struggled throughout the T20 World Cup 2024 until the final, will continue playing ODI and Test cricket for India. Rohit and Jadeja will also be available for these two formats of the game for Team India as well as the IPL.
