Phil Salt and Virat Kohli help RCB crush RR

Batting first in the match, Rajasthan Royals' decent performance led to them registering a total of 173/4 on the board. In reply, Royal Challengers Bengaluru got off to a good start, thanks to Phil Salt and Virat Kohli.

Salt played an explosive knock of 65 off 33 balls while Kohli played a cautious knock of 62* off 45 balls. Kohli achieved a colossal feat of 100 T20 fifties during his knock and remained unbeaten till the end to help RCB complete the run-chase in 17.3 overs with 9 wickets in hand.

Virat Kohli's terrific knock against Rajasthan Royals was studded with 4 fours and 2 sixes. One of the sixes that Kohli hit, went on to smash the cameraperson.

On the last ball of the 13th over, Kartikeya bowled an 81.3kph flighted ball to Kohli, who cleared his front leg and smashed the ball over the jumping fielder in deep for a six.

The ball hit the cameraman standing there on the back, and Kohli was seen punching his bat furiously after hitting a maximum. Notably, Kohli punched his bat because it was a pressure-releasing six.

His experience, his inputs, and his ideas are helpful - Rajat Patidar on Virat Kohli

Speaking at the pre-match press conference, the RCB captain Rajat Patidar spoke about Kohli's presence in the camp and how it helps him. He said:

"Virat is a very senior player who has led the Indian team and RCB as well. His experience, his input, and his ideas regarding captaincy and individual growth are really helpful. Also, he does share his ideas, but it doesn't mean that he is leading the side," he stated.

While talking about himself, Rajat Patidar said that he doesn't think too much about captaincy while batting and only focuses on it while fielding.

"While fielding I see myself as a captain, but while batting, I don't take that pressure and instead focus on my batting strength. When I go out to bat, I don't like to think that I am the captain and that is why I have to do things differently," said Patidar.

“We take it one game at a time. If everyone is confident, we look to make the most of it. We'll focus on playing good cricket, not focus on which venue it is. It's a special game for us with our green initiative, and wearing the green jersey makes it even more special and exciting,” Patidar added.
