Even the biggest stars feel embarrassed by some of their past comments, and Virat Kohli is not an exception either. The India batting superstar could not help but cringe at his younger self after watching an old interview of himself.

Virat Kohli was shown the clip by anchor Jatin Sapru when both of them appeared on on '18 Calling 18' show on JioHotstar. The video turned out to be a throwback to a special moment for the former India captain - his very first Player of the Match award in the IPL.

Kohli and Gayle are still great friends

While the right-handed batsman made his IPL debut in 2008 and was one of the highly-rated youngsters in world cricket, he could not get any award in the first three seasons.

He finally managed to win his first Player of the Match award in 2011 following Royal Challengers Bengaluru's win over Delhi Capitals. He had scored 56 runs off 38 balls in that game, helping RCB chase down 162 runs with three balls remaining.

While receiving the award, Virat Kohli explained the plan while he was batting, saying: "To be honest, I did not plan to bat like that. But when I started to hit the ball well, I took charge from Chris. That was the plan in the middle so that he could play himself in, and I could go for my shots because I was hitting it well."

Virat Kohli left embarrassed:

11 years after receiving his first Player of the Match award, Virat Kohli revisited the special moment once again. However, the former RCB captain was left embarrassed over his comments at the post-match presentation ceremony.

"I don't even know what I said. You guys brought it here from somewhere," he reacted when he first saw the clip.

Kohli and Sapru then listened through the video before the former burst into laughter over his comments for Chris Gayle. Kohli then went on to mock himself, saying: "Chris could play himself in? Waah! Ghalat fehmi dekh lo (Look at the misunderstanding)! Since the social media boom, fans have started analysing players' quotes, which has become way too twisted."
